Week 6: Books!

Below are 10 books I found that would help with my Unit or related to my unite. I think they all will be helpful for younger students and will be interesting to them.

This book has a lot of rhyming words in it. This will give a good idea to the students about changing beginning letter sounds. This picture came from Google images.

This book is about a silent e, I teach a lesson on this and thought this book would be good for the students to read. It gives examples of silent e words and shows how it works. This book. picture came from Amazon.

For some reason I couldn't get the picture bigger. The book is called Thumbtack, Earwax, Lipstick, Dipstick. It is a book about compound words. I am teaching a lesson during my unit about compound, so this book is a great resource. This picture of the book came from Target.com.

This book is about sight words. It is not a simple reading book but have many different sight words to learn. Students can use this as a resource when leaning sight words (which I teach in my unit). This picture of the book came from hmhco.com.

Pete the Cat Phonics Box: Includes 12 Mini-books Featuring Short and Long Vowel Sounds
These Pete the Cat books include different short and long vowel words in them. Students love Pete the Cat, so these books will catch their attention and they will enjoy them while learning. This picture of the books came from Walmart.com.

Another cute book that has to do with rhyming and changing beginning sounds. I think it will help the students to see how to change letters ad make new words. This picture of the book came from Pinterest.

These are some more phonics books for my lesson. I think these book will relate more to girls and catch their attention more. They will help them with beginning sounds and changing sounds. This picture of the book came from aliexpress.com.

As in the books before would relate to girls these books would relate to boys. They are a lot like the last set about beginning sounds and just phonics in general. This picture of the book came from Google images.

I use to read these books all the time as kid. They have simple words for students to use and help them learn new words. These books would be good books to read and then write about. This picture came from aliexpress.com.

This book I am going to use in one of my lessons. I think it will catch my students attention. This book picture came from Amazon.

  1. I love Frog on a Log because it is such a cute story that rhymes. Students will be able to memorize it too. Great book choices!

  2. I like Frog on a Log but I think the students would like the Pete the Cat or the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It always helps to have things the students are interested in. Engages them better than if it is something they don't like or don't care about. I also think the clown book looks really cute, I have not seen it before, I will have to check it out!

  3. Girls LOVE Fancy Nancy books. I also like the "Here Comes Silent E!" book. It looks like you found books that are perfectly tailored to your lessons and I think they will be a perfect resource for students to use as they go through your unit!

  5. All of these books look great! I think the students would enjoy Pete the Cat books the most because they are very known and popular in classrooms right now. Plus they are silly.
