I HAVE ONE MORE CLASS SESION AND IM DONE!! :)

WOW! I cannot believe this is the last blog post, this class went by so fast! Which I am happy about because this is my last session EVER! This class was overall great! I learned so much about teaching Language Arts. Our unit plan was so helpful for me because next year in my student teaching; we look at the Missouri Learning Standards and make lessons for our students. So this is what we did for this unit, so I think it was very helpful for me.
I also really enjoyed listening to everyone present their lesson plans to get different ideas on ideas for lessons for the future.
I loved how we did our discussions in this class (liked we talked about for a minute tonight). Being able to do them in class was great. They were also great for us to come up with ideas and to save for our future classrooms. I wish I could find a way to save all of our discussions from everyone to my computer so I could have them to look at in the future. I will just have to go through them again by next week and write done what I want to use in the future and save it to my computer :)
Overall, I think writing the 100 questions helped me a lot and made me think deeper the most. I want to be using DOKs more and doing this really helped me!
What was the most helpful thing we did in class for you?

  1. I absolutely love the picture! This class did fly by, it seems like just yesterday that we started. You are so lucky to be almost at the end of your time at college. You are going to make a fantastic teacher and I am going to miss you in future classes! The most helpful thing we did in this class for me was one doing the discussions and blogs during class. This really helped my oh so busy life! Second I would have to say the lesson plans. I would like to see a copy of what she wanted for us on the scope and sequence assignment. I got a good grade but she said it was different so I wondered how. Good luck!

    2. Tina, the funny thing is, I don't have a vision of this assignment in my head. I know that all the teachers I worked with found a way to do this that worked best for them. So I didn't want to show one way and have everyone copy that. This way, although harder, was designed for you to find out what works. I'm reassessing that idea, or trying to find a way to show you one but not allowing it to be copied. I can already hear that conversation ! :)

  2. Haha I love your picture! Congratulations on being so close to being done! That's seriously so exciting and you're going to do amazing while student teaching. I agree about the 100 questions assignment. It was seriously like a light bulb moment for me and it helped me guide my unit plan so much. I really think I'll do that again while creating future unit plans. I also really liked these blog assignments! It helped me get back into the swing of casual writing. I used to journal a lot, but kind of got out of the habit. Now, I'm thinking about starting up again! I think it's so important to love reading and writing as a teacher, because after all, that's what we promote to our students. Good luck with your last class session!!!!!

  3. Oh my gosh! I love your picture! That is exactly how I feel lol. I did like our unit assignment because it had me going back to state standards and getting more familiar with them. I enjoyed how Dr. Steffes set the class where we talked about content and had time to work on discussions/blogs. It really helped me out. I am happy for you! Student teaching will be fun! I would do it all over again. 16 weeks go by so quickly when you're busy and teaching. Have a great summer and if you need any help with MoPTA, just let me know. :)

  4. I loved when we gave the list of author websites and did the discussions in class. I liked the discussions because they gave us insight to other websites that could be resourceful in our future classroom. Mrs. Steffes is my favorite by far! For so many reasons! And congrats on being so close to finishing! :)
